This event is the second of a series of educational sessions throughout 2010, covering all 9 IFMA competencies culminating with a CFM Exam Review on September 17th & 18th, 2010.
Competencies Covered: Operations & Maintenance, Human & Environmental Factors, Technology
Topic to include:
- The basics of building mechanics design, construction, operation and maintenance.
- An explanation of Building Control Systems (BMS) and how they have evolved to the point they are fully automated & can be monitored and controlled remotely (with small or very large sophisticated systems).
- How BM systems relate to Facilities Professionals on a daily basis.
The Speaker Bio
Peter Brown – CEO, Synergy Consulting
Peter Brown, a native Calgarian, began his career as a refrigeration mechanic and industrial electrician. With his background in technical services (Operations, Project Management, Service Delivery) he launched INET (formally Aaron Controls), an independent HVAC contracting company in 1978.
The company grew to include PLC based controls and automation systems in the mid-1980’s, quickly becoming specialists in building systems automation for HVAC and security. Inet was then acquired by Convergint Technologies (Chicago, IL) in 2002.
Peter has since held management positions in the manufacturing, contracting, service delivery and business development areas of the industry, leading various project teams in the Design, Implementation, and Support of Energy Management and Process Control systems, as well as Security Technology Deployments. He has vast experience in North and South American, as well as European and Australian markets. He is also a Certified Open Systems Professional (LON and BACnet Technologies).
Currently, Peter is consulting through his latest business venture, Synergy Building Technologies, and is focused on the development of several major projects in the Alberta Oil Sands, as well as specific initiatives for several key players in the Alberta Oil & Gas Industry.
